Let’s start at the very beginning…

We are two sisters who always shared a dream: to create a place where children feel safe, nurtured, and truly at home. We often imagined building a setting where little ones could learn, explore, and grow with confidence. We wanted to offer families the kind of care that felt personal, genuine, and rooted in warmth—a place that supported the community and helped ease the ever-growing need for high-quality childcare that parents could trust.

Our journey began in Golden Valley, in the comfort of Laura’s home. What started as a small childminding service quickly became something much more meaningful. Every day was filled with moments that reminded us why we chose this path—tiny milestones, big smiles, and the joy of watching children flourish. We poured our hearts into creating a space that felt cosy, loving, and safe, and before long, word spread. Our little waiting list grew… and grew… and grew.

It became clear that the need for our style of childcare went beyond the walls of a home setting. So, with equal parts excitement and nerves, we took a leap of faith and moved into a bigger venue. This step allowed us to welcome even more families into our Little Acorns Childcare community, and it marked the beginning of our growth as a childcare setting. What had once been a small sister-run dream was now becoming something much bigger, and we embraced every challenge and every triumph along the way.

Six years later, with an incredible team, we found ourselves ready for another chapter. We wanted a space that reflected our values even more deeply—warmth, calmness, connection, and comfort. That dream became a reality when we opened our beautiful Hygge-inspired setting in Hawkinge. Designed to feel like a home-from-home, it brings together soothing spaces, natural materials, and an atmosphere where children and families immediately feel welcomed.

Around this time, another opportunity blossomed before us, and we followed our hearts once again. We became the proud owners of Playbox Day Nursery and Preschool in Folkestone. Expanding our family of settings has allowed us to support even more children on their early years journey, and to further contribute to our local community—something that has always been at the heart of why we do what we do.

Looking back, we feel incredibly blessed. What began as two sisters with a dream has grown into a thriving childcare family supported by the most dedicated, passionate, and caring team we could ever ask for. Our staff bring warmth, creativity, and love into our settings every single day, and we are endlessly grateful for them.
